Pedestrian Killed in Crash on East Washington Avenue
A pedestrian was killed in a crash on East Washington Avenue near Main Street on October 12, 2023, at approximately 7:45 p.m.
According to the Madison Police Department, the incident involved a vehicle that struck the pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. Emergency responders from the Madison Fire Department arrived on the scene to provide medical aid, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Authorities said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No other injuries were reported.
Witnesses reported that the pedestrian was crossing the street when the collision occurred. The roadway was closed for approximately two hours as Law Enforcement and accident reconstruction teams conducted an investigation.
The Madison Police Department is urging any witnesses to come forward with additional information related to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
