GREAT FALLS — An elderly woman died in a two-vehicle crash in Teton County on April 12, 2025.

The collision occurred around 2 p.m. near the intersection of US Highway 89 (1st Road SE) and State Highway 431/565 (3rd Lane), approximately four miles east/southeast of Fairfield, according to the Montana Highway Patrol (MHP).

Involved in the crash were a Caravan driven by an 88-year-old woman from Hamilton and a Chevrolet Silverado driven by an 18-year-old man from Great Falls. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

MHP reports that the Dodge was stopped at the intersection before proceeding northbound. The Chevrolet, traveling eastbound on US Highway 89, collided with the Dodge, causing it to spin halfway around and remain on the road. The Chevrolet veered off the left side into a ditch.

The driver of the Dodge was transported to Benefis Health System in Great Falls but later succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has not been released. The driver of the Chevrolet sustained minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, and authorities do not suspect impaired driving was a factor. No information is currently available regarding potential citations or charges against the driver of the Chevrolet.
