JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County — Jacksonville firefighters completed passenger vehicle rescue training to enhance their response to complex crash scenarios.
According to the Jacksonville Fire Department, the course focused on training first responders to safely manage, stabilize, and extricate victims from vehicle accidents.
Firefighters practiced using hydraulic rescue tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and stabilization struts. These tools aid teams in controlling hazards and efficiently conducting vehicle extrications.
Authorities also shared safety advice for those trapped in vehicles after a crash, urging them to remain calm and stay inside until help arrives. Exiting the vehicle before stabilization could lead to further risks.
The training underscores the necessity for specialized skills and equipment in critical emergency situations.
