NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred in Algiers late Wednesday night.
Police reported that shortly after 10:30 p.m., a man was struck by a vehicle on General De Gaulle Drive near a busy intersection filled with businesses. A woman driving southbound on General De Gaulle Drive hit the man after he reportedly ran into the road.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities during the investigation.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office is set to identify the victim and determine the official cause of death following an autopsy and family notification.
