One person died and two others were injured in a five-car crash that closed U.S. 85 in Commerce City early Wednesday morning, authorities said.
As of 7:50 a.m., U.S. 85 was shut down in both directions between Longs Peak Drive and East 124th Avenue due to cleanup and investigation, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Paramedics transported two individuals, including the at-fault driver, to the hospital with unspecified injuries, according to the Commerce City Police Department. The deceased will be identified by the Adams County Coroner's Office.
Authorities indicated that alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
