One dead, two injured in two-car rollover crash in Chardon
A two-car rollover crash in Chardon resulted in one fatality and two injuries on Thursday at approximately 9:11 a.m. at the intersection of Route 608 and Chardon-Windsor Road.
Emergency responders from the Chardon Fire Department, along with mutual aid from Burton and Hambden Fire Departments, arrived to find two vehicles significantly damaged. Two individuals managed to exit their vehicles, while a third was trapped inside.
The trapped victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two injured were transported to Geauga Hospital, according to Chardon Fire Chief Justin Geiss.
Geiss also noted that plans are in place for the intersection to convert to a four-way stop, with completion expected in 6-8 weeks, as reported by the Ohio Department of Transportation.
“The health, safety, and wellness of our residents and all who visit is and shall remain our top priority. Our condolences go out to all those involved in today's tragic incident,” Geiss stated.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
