CHRYSLER RECALLS OVER 61,000 JEEP CHEROKEE VEHICLES DUE TO POWERTRAIN ISSUE
Undated (WKRC) — Chrysler is recalling more than 61,000 Jeep Cherokee vehicles in the United States due to a potential powertrain failure.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall affects certain 2019 through 2023 Jeep Cherokee SUVs. A defective power transfer unit (PTU) may fail, resulting in a loss of drive power and, in some instances, unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury.
Chrysler reported the recall encompasses approximately 61,711 vehicles. A remedy is currently in development, and owners will receive notification letters starting June 25, detailing the safety risk. A follow-up notice will be sent once a fix is available.
In the interim, vehicle owners can contact FCA Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403 and reference recall number 40D. Vehicle identification numbers affected by the recall will be searchable on the NHTSA website starting May 14.
