SLIDELL, La. — A Slidell man has been arrested following a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 6-year-old boy Wednesday evening.
According to the Slidell Police Department, the incident occurred before 6 p.m. on Northshore Lane. Authorities reported that Jeremiah Ramirez was riding his scooter in a driveway when he was struck by a gray SUV that failed to stop.
Ramirez was transported to a local hospital by his mother, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The vehicle involved has been identified as a 2022 Gray Chevrolet Suburban, which was located Wednesday night on East Gause Boulevard. Officers apprehended the driver, 35-year-old Cody Michael Beaudette, shortly afterward.
Beaudette has been arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center, facing charges including vehicular homicide, reckless operation, felony hit-and-run involving death or serious injury, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities confirming all details reported.
