RAYNHAM, MA — Two injured in crash following traffic stop attempt Tuesday afternoon.
Around 5 p.m., a Mercedes was reported driving erratically on Route 24 southbound near Bridgewater, according to Massachusetts State Police. A trooper attempted to stop the vehicle near Mile Marker 20, but the driver fled into the breakdown lane.
Authorities stated that the trooper did not pursue the vehicle due to traffic conditions. The Mercedes later collided with two other vehicles near the intersection with Route 44 in Raynham. Following the crash, the driver attempted to escape into nearby woods but was apprehended.
Both the fleeing driver and another individual were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The extent and nature of their injuries have not been disclosed, nor have the identities of those involved.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to police.
