LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. (KOKH) — Four firefighters from the Langston Fire Department were injured in a crash with a semi-truck while returning from tornado response efforts in Enid on Thursday night.
According to Captain Robert Rogers, both the fire truck and a semi-truck were involved in the head-on collision. Fire Chief Bobby Anderson sustained critical injuries and remains hospitalized, while the other three firefighters suffered minor injuries and have since been released.
Authorities confirmed that the fire truck is a total loss due to the accident. Chief Anderson is expected to miss significant work time as he recuperates.
Local fire departments, including the Wellston Fire Department, are extending their support to the Langston Fire Department. Chief Todd Beesley expressed condolences and prayers for those affected. The Hicks Mountain Fire Department in Kiowa County also issued a statement urging the community to support the injured firefighters and their families.
Emergency responders are investigating the incident, and further details on the crash have not been released.
