MONONA, Wis. (WKOW) — A police pursuit early Thursday ended in a crash and foot chase, revealing an adult and child in the vehicle.

Around 12:25 a.m. on April 23, a Monona police officer observed a red Malibu west on U.S. Highway 12 near Monona Drive without visible license plates. When the officer attempted to initiate a stop, the driver briefly pulled over but accelerated away.

The pursuit continued west on Highway 12, then onto a frontage road and into the Allied Drive neighborhood. The vehicle struck a parked, unoccupied while turning onto Carling Drive. The driver fled the scene on foot.

Officers later discovered an adult male passenger and a young child inside the Malibu; neither were injured. Authorities stated they were unaware of the child's presence during the chase, indicating it would have influenced their decision to pursue.

Investigation confirmed the vehicle had recently been sold to a Madison dealership and was not stolen. Police have identified the driver and are urging him to surrender, though his identity has not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.
