CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A multi-vehicle crash involving tractor-trailers occurred early Wednesday on I-81 northbound in Cumberland County, according to PennDOT.
The incident was reported at approximately 3:25 a.m. near mile marker 28, resulting in significant debris scattered across the roadway.
Three tractor-trailers were involved, with one transporting raw chicken that spilled onto the highway. Another truck was carrying mail; the cargo of the third vehicle remains unspecified.
Franklin County emergency crews assisted with closing the interstate, according to the Department of Transportation.
Lane restrictions were implemented between mile markers 24 and 29, as noted by 511PA. PennDOT indicated that I-81 northbound will be closed for several hours, with one individual transported to a hospital.
As of 9:30 a.m., the roadway has reopened, and the spilled chicken is reported to have been taken to a landfill.
