CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Ford has issued a recall for nearly 1.4 million F-150 trucks due to a safety risk involving unexpected transmission behavior.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirmed that 1,392,935 Ford F-150 trucks from the 2015, 2016, and 2017 model years are affected by a defect that may cause the transmission to downshift unexpectedly into second gear. This issue is attributed to a loss of signal between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module.
Owners are advised to visit licensed dealers for a complimentary software update to the powertrain control module. Interim safety notifications will be mailed to affected owners starting April 27, 2026, with follow-up communications about the final remedy expected in July 2026.
Authorities urge F-150 owners to address this recall promptly to avoid potential safety hazards.
