COLUMBUS, Ohio — A driver accused in a fatal Interstate 270 shoulder crash appeared in a Columbus courtroom Monday on separate felony OVI charges.
According to prosecutors, Jaricah Wright faces three felony OVI counts from September. Authorities said a further hearing is pending as prosecutors seek to have her held without bond.
Investigators said Wright is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in a crash on I-270 south near Georgesville Road. Authorities said she struck two cars that were stopped on the shoulder.
According to authorities, 45-year-old Jodi Tackett died, and her husband—who was changing a tire—was critically injured. Medics provided aid at the scene and transported the injured man.
Columbus Police said Wright left the scene and was found at a nearby shopping center. Body camera video released by police shows officers detaining her.
Prosecutors said Wright has three prior OVI cases in the last 10 years and was involved in a 2020 fatal collision while her license was suspended; that case was later dismissed.
Authorities said the I-270 crash remains under investigation.
