MARSHFIELD, Mass. —
A three-car crash on Careswell Street Monday evening resulted in the death of 69-year-old Irene F. McPherson of Marshfield, authorities confirmed.
According to Police Chief Philip Tavares, McPherson was driving a Hyundai eastbound around 5:30 p.m. when she crossed into the westbound lane near Colby Hewitt Lane. She collided at an angle with a Camaro before crashing head-on into a Kia.
The drivers of the Camaro and Kia, both women from Pembroke and Marshfield, were treated for minor injuries at South Shore Hospital and later released.
Emergency responders included three fire engines and two ambulances, with a third ambulance requested upon arrival at the scene, according to Acting Fire Chief William Hocking. Firefighters utilized hydraulic rescue tools to extricate one of the women from her vehicle.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and lane closures were in effect during the emergency response.
