A multi-vehicle crash on the Missouri River Bridge on Thursday, April 9, 2026, resulted in a woman's arrest following a police pursuit.
The Jefferson City Police Department (JCPD) responded to a theft in progress at a Target at approximately 5:12 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 32-year-old woman from Columbia had fled the scene with stolen merchandise.
During the pursuit, authorities reported that the suspect discarded items from her vehicle.
JCPD terminated the pursuit due to unsafe conditions, but later confirmed that the suspect had crashed into five other vehicles on the bridge.
The multi-vehicle collision halted traffic, with five cars involved in the incident.
Witnesses reported that the suspect attempted to hijack a vehicle she struck after the crash.
