ABINGTON, Mass. — A local family faced tragedy for the second time this weekend when Mark Vasselian, 57, was killed in a car crash early Saturday.
According to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office, the single-vehicle accident occurred on Route 139 just after 2 a.m. Abington police responded to the scene. Vasselian, a passenger in the vehicle, later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities confirmed that Mark Vasselian was the father of Sgt. Daniel Vasselian, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2013. The investigation into the crash is ongoing. No additional details about the incident or potential injuries to the driver were immediately available.
