SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. — Five deer crashed through a home’s front door on April 9, 2026, leaving one dead and causing significant damage.

According to homeowner Owen Eichenlaub, the herd entered through a closed door while he was preparing his 6-year-old daughter for school.

Four deer exited the residence; one died at the foot of the stairs after the initial impact, Eichenlaub said.

Damage included broken door jambs, shattered glass, hoof marks on hardwood floors, and a hole in a dining room wall, according to Eichenlaub.

Eichenlaub said an electric garage door was also struck, and at least 2 panels will need replacement. No human injuries were reported.

The cause of the incident remains unclear. Deer are frequently seen in the neighborhood, Eichenlaub said.
