Baton Rouge, LA. – A man was killed in a two-vehicle collision that happened on Friday night in Baton Rouge.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the accident happened around 9 p.m. on Interstate 10 near milepost 211 on the Bonnet Carré Spillway bridge.
A 2012 Mazda 6 was stopped in the left lane of the freeway for unknown reasons when it was rear-ended by a 2017 Nissan Sentra traveling eastbound.
The impact of the collision caused the Mazda to strike the driver who was standing outside the vehicle, pushing him over the guardrail into the marsh below.
A 22-year-old Baton Rouge man who was in the front passenger seat of the Mazda was killed in the accident.
The driver of the Mazda was rescued from the marsh and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Nissan driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
