Issues Recall for Nearly 300,000 Vehicles Due to Seat Belt Defect

Hyundai is recalling 294,128 vehicles in the U.S. over a defect that could cause seat belt anchors to detach, potentially increasing injury risks in a crash.

The recall affects several models, including the Hyundai Ioniq 6, Genesis G90, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Authorities said that if the seat belt anchor detaches, it may fail to properly restrain a passenger or driver during an accident.

Customers are advised to bring affected vehicles to a dealer for inspection and reinforcement or replacement of the seat belt anchors as needed.

This recall follows a previous announcement less than a month ago, where Hyundai suspended sales and recalled over 68,000 2026 Palisade SUVs due to safety concerns linked to potential failures in second- and third-row power seats. This earlier recall was prompted by a tragic incident resulting in a child's death, which remains under investigation.

Hyundai has expressed condolences to the affected families and is committed to addressing the issues promptly.

For further assistance, customers can visit local dealerships for more information regarding the recalls.
