Pax, W.Va. (WVDN) – On Thursday, February 26, 2026, at approximately 3:13 p.m., West Virginia State Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 77 near mile marker 56 due to observed violations.
The driver failed to yield and fled southbound, resulting in a crash near mile marker 51. The suspect then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot toward Maple Fork Road in Raleigh County.
Authorities said the suspect may have received a ride from an unknown individual and was later dropped off in Mount Hope, Fayette County, where he again fled on foot. No injuries were reported in connection with this incident.
The suspect remains unidentified and is still at large. The investigation is ongoing.
