Plane Crash in Routt County Claims Four Lives

ROUTT COUNTY, Colo. — A single-engine plane crash near Steamboat Springs early Friday morning resulted in the fatalities of all four occupants, according to authorities.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight, involving an Epic Aircraft E1000 registered to ALS Aviation LLC in Franklin, Tenn. The aircraft had departed from Kansas City Downtown Airport approximately two hours prior to the crash, as reported by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Routt County Sheriff Doug Sherar confirmed that none of the four individuals onboard survived. The bodies were recovered from the crash site on Emerald Mountain, and the Routt County Coroner will work to identify the victims and notify their families.

Authorities have established road closures around Emerald Mountain, urging residents to avoid the area while investigations continue. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FAA are responding to the scene to conduct an inquiry into the crash.
