Driver of University of Alabama car accident has been identified.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A 65-year-old man died in a crash on the University of Alabama campus on April 6.

The deceased has been identified as Danny Clay Hartley, according to Stephanie Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa Police Department. Hartley was not affiliated with the University.

At approximately 1:56 p.m., University and Tuscaloosa police responded to reports of a vehicle striking a tree near Marr's Spring at the intersection of McCorvey Drive and Campus Drive West.

Despite life-saving efforts, Hartley was at the scene. Authorities indicated that a sudden medical emergency occurred just before the crash, leading to the incident.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department's Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the accident.
