ERIE, Colo. — One teenager died and another was seriously injured following a fiery crash on Erie Parkway early Sunday morning, authorities said.
At approximately 12:01 a.m., Erie Police responded to a single-vehicle accident on Erie Parkway, discovering the vehicle engulfed in flames. Officers extracted two 18-year-old males from Commerce City: the driver, who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, and the passenger, who sustained serious injuries.
Initial investigations indicate the driver was speeding eastbound on Erie Parkway when the car crossed the median into westbound traffic, ultimately colliding with a bridge guardrail, which damaged part of the structure.
Erie Parkway was closed in both directions between Colliers Boulevard and Ambrose Street until around 9 a.m. Sunday. This incident marks the second serious collision in the area over the weekend, according to Erie Police.
