Bismarck Man Killed in Rear-End Collision on I-94 Near Steele.

STEELE, N.D. — A 20-year-old man from Bismarck died in a crash on Interstate 94 near Steele early Thursday, Aug. 28.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the collision occurred in the eastbound lane at mile marker 196 around 6:40 a.m. Conditions were reported as foggy at the time.

The man was driving a 2012 Versa at a high rate of speed in the passing lane when he struck the rear of a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek, authorities said. He was not wearing a seat belt and was at the scene.

The driver of the Subaru, a 63-year-old man from New Meadows, Idaho, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. He was wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol.

The crash is under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
