Man robbed of car following moped crash near Waikiki as police seek suspect.

HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is investigating a robbery that occurred on Sunday night near Waikiki.

At approximately 10:08 p.m., a 55-year-old man was sitting in his parked vehicle near Laau St. and Date St. when an unknown assailant crashed a moped into the driver's side door. According to HPD, the suspect then pointed a handgun at the victim, struck him on the arm, and fled the scene in the man's white 2021 Nissan Sentra.

Police recovered a white Baodiao moped believed to have been used by the suspect at the scene. The suspect is described as a heavy-set man wearing a black mask, black hoodie, camouflage pants, and carrying a black backpack.

The victim sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment. Authorities are urging anyone with information to call 911 or CrimeStoppers at 808-955-8300.
