Gold Hill Man Dies in Highway 99 Crash
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – A traffic accident on Highway 99 resulted in the death of a Gold Hill resident on September 8.
According to Oregon State Police, 26-year-old Cody Austin Jenkins was driving a Subaru Legacy when he veered off the road, crossed into northbound lanes, and plunged into the Rogue River.
The Jackson County Search and Rescue Team quickly responded to assist in retrieving the submerged vehicle. Jenkins was found deceased at the scene; no other individuals were in the car.
The highway remained open during the investigation, which is ongoing. Authorities received assistance from local agencies, including the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Rogue River Fire Department.
