WATFORD CITY, N.D. — A crash on Sunday, Sept. 28, resulted in the deaths of a woman and a child.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Hannah Kocher, 25, and a 5-year-old girl were killed in a collision around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 85 and 23rd Street Northwest, south of Watford City. The identity of the girl has not been released.

The crash involved a 2013 Fusion, driven by Jacob Shepard, 25, of Watford City, and a 2006 Peterbilt, operated by Mickey Gramley, 41, of Bybee, Tennessee. Authorities reported that Gramley failed to stop at a posted sign, resulting in a collision with the Ford Fusion. Both vehicles came to rest in the southeast ditch of the intersection.

Kocher and the child were at the scene. Shepard suffered serious injuries and was to a hospital in Bismarck. Gramley was uninjured. All individuals involved were wearing seat belts.

The investigation into potential charges against Gramley and Shepard is ongoing, authorities said.
