McKenzie County — A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 85 has resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 10:55 a.m. local time on Thursday, Feb. 19, approximately 7 miles south of Williston. Edward Jones, 66, of Arnegard, was driving a vehicle that was struck by another car traveling north.
Authorities reported that Jose Cuellar, 33, of Williston, lost control on the icy highway, crossing into the southbound lane and colliding with Jones' vehicle. Cuellar and his passenger, Dennis Zamora, 26, of Austin, Texas, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to CHI St. Alexius Health Williston Medical Center.
Jones was also taken to the Williston hospital before being flown to Trinity Health in Minot. Cuellar has been cited for driving without a license, while Zamora was cited for driving without liability insurance.
The crash is currently under investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
