A helicopter crashed into the ocean at Kalalau Beach on Kauai's north shore Thursday afternoon, resulting in three fatalities and two injuries, authorities said.
According to the Kauai Fire Department, the helicopter was carrying one pilot and four passengers when it went down at approximately 2:41 p.m. Emergency responders transported two injured individuals to Wilcox Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities confirmed the helicopter was operated by Airborne Aviation. The Na Pali Coast, where the crash occurred, is known for its scenic cliffs, beaches, and waterfalls, typically viewed through helicopter tours, which are a popular tourist activity.
