A school from Kenwood Middle School was involved in a fatal crash on Highway 70 in Carroll County on Friday, March 27.

Authorities confirmed the bus was en route to a field trip in Jackson when it collided with a Tennessee Department of Transportation dump truck and a Chevrolet Trailblazer near Cedar Grove.

There were 25 students and five adults aboard the bus, with two students confirmed dead as a result of the incident.

Officials noted that the TDOT vehicle contained two adults, while one adult was traveling in the Chevrolet. Their conditions have not been disclosed.

According to the Associated Press, at least seven additional individuals sustained injuries.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is spearheading the investigation into the crash.

Families of all individuals on the bus have been contacted by school officials.

Emergency crews are at the scene, and authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident. Both investigation and recovery efforts are ongoing.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as response efforts, including air medical transport, remain in effect.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School District has released a statement confirming the details of the incident and extending condolences to the affected families.
