MAHOMET — A single-vehicle crash on County Road 2650 E left a 75-year-old Mahomet man injured on Sunday afternoon.
According to a State Police report, Ronald K. Phelps was driving a 2009 light green Hyundai Sonata eastbound when his vehicle veered off the road into a ditch at approximately 12:39 p.m. The vehicle continued through the ditch, crossed Illinois 47, and crashed into another ditch.
Emergency responders transported Phelps to a local hospital, where he is listed in serious condition. Authorities reported that it did not appear he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
As of Sunday afternoon, no citations had been issued related to the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
