A multi-vehicle collision in downtown Springfield resulted in multiple injuries Wednesday afternoon.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Main Street and Elm Avenue at approximately 2:10 p.m., according to the Springfield Police Department. Two vehicles were involved, with a total of five individuals transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities reported that one vehicle was heading east on Main Street while the other was traveling north on Elm Avenue when the collision took place. The intersection was closed for over an hour as emergency crews responded.
The Springfield Fire Department assisted with medical aid at the scene. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
