GREENFIELD, Ind. — One person is dead and five injured following a Saturday afternoon on State Road 9 near I-70.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office, the accident occurred around 2:41 p.m. A 2013 Cadillac Escalade, driven by 45-year-old Adam Hunt of Greenfield, was traveling southbound when a Ford Fusion, driven by 32-year-old Cody Clark, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the Escalade.

Clark was at the scene; authorities confirmed he was not wearing a seatbelt. Hunt sustained life-threatening injuries and was to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital-Indianapolis. His wife was treated on-site, while their four children were to a nearby hospital. All occupants in the Cadillac were wearing seatbelts.

Police indicated that drugs, alcohol, or both may be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The roadway experienced temporary lane closures following the incident as emergency services responded. Further details will be released as the investigation continues.
