CLINTON, Iowa — A 57-year-old man from Sterling, Illinois, was fatally injured in a crash Sunday afternoon.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. at the intersection of 19th Avenue Northwest and Mill Creek Parkway in Clinton. The individual was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Impala northbound on 19th Avenue NW when a 2015 Ram 1500, operated by a Clinton resident, collided with his vehicle.
Emergency personnel transported the Impala driver to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Iowa State Patrol stated the investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no names have been released at this time.
As of this date, the Iowa Department of Transportation reports 50 fatalities on Iowa roads in 2026, which is a nine-person increase compared to the same period last year. The five-year average for annual fatalities statewide is 337.
