MORONI, Utah (KUTV) — A pedestrian accident occurred at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday on Dairy Lane, resulting in the deaths of a pregnant woman and her newborn.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, Rebecca Hafen, 35, was walking along the shoulder when she was struck by a vehicle. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Emergency responders performed a delivery of Hafen's baby at the hospital. The newborn was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit but passed away shortly after birth, as confirmed by a GoFundMe update.

The GoFundMe, organized to support Tyson Hafen and their nine children, stated that the family was able to spend time with the baby before he died. “As painful as this is, we find some comfort knowing that he is now with his mama, Rebecca,” the update read.

No charges have been filed against the driver at this time; however, the investigation continues, with any potential charges to be determined by the Sanpete County Attorney's Office.

The fundraiser aims to assist the family with medical expenses and other needs during this difficult time.
