A 22-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. 64 in Washington County at approximately 9:58 p.m. on October 30, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred near Village Drive, where the victim, Travon Pettiford of Plymouth, was walking in the westbound lane wearing dark clothing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No charges are expected to be filed against the driver involved, as stated by the State Highway Patrol. An investigation is ongoing, and no additional details have been released at this time.
