LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A 75-year-old Kingman man died Friday afternoon after a UTV left a trail and rolled down a mountainside in the Hualapai Mountains.
At approximately 2 p.m. on October 23, deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), MCSO Search and Rescue, and Mohave Park Rangers responded to reports of the incident.
Authorities said a group of UTVs was navigating a narrow, rocky trail from Soap Canyon toward Hualapai Mountain County Park when one vehicle went off the trail, tumbling approximately 200 feet down a ravine. Due to the rugged terrain, responders employed a technical rope system to reach the site.
Search and Rescue personnel located the vehicle and driver, identified as John Emory Shuttz. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body was recovered by Search and Rescue and subsequently transported to the Mohave County Medical Examiner's Office. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
