LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A wrong-way crash on Sahara Avenue critically injured two drivers last Thursday, according to police reports.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said Corazon Blackwell, 58, was booked in absentia following the incident near Tenaya Way. Authorities confirmed that a 2022 Honda CR-V was traveling east on the westbound lanes when it collided head-on with a 2025 BMW IX.
Witnesses reported seeing the Honda speeding and noted the driver appeared “crazed.” One motorist stated the Honda narrowly missed his vehicle moments before the crash, which caused debris to damage three parked cars at a nearby dealership.
Emergency responders transported the BMW driver to University Medical Center with serious injuries, including a laceration to the liver and spleen. Blackwell was also taken to UMC after rescue crews worked for an extended period to extricate her from the wreckage.
Preliminary data from the airbag control module indicated the Honda was traveling at approximately 93 miles per hour at the time of impact. Blackwell faces charges of reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm.
A court hearing took place on Tuesday, where it was noted that Blackwell remained hospitalized, though bond had been posted for her release. The case is scheduled to continue on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
