MADISON (WKOW) — A multi-vehicle crash caused significant disruptions on northbound Highway 51 at Pflaum Road, but all lanes have since reopened.
The collision, reported by several 911 callers at 2:24 p.m. on Wednesday, prompted a swift response from the Madison Fire Department, which arrived just five minutes later to extinguish a fire involving one of the vehicles.
According to MFD spokesperson Cynthia Schuster, five individuals were evaluated for injuries, but there were no fatalities. Following the incident, Schuster noted that while the traffic lanes have been cleared, the traffic lights at the nearby intersection remained non-operational.
The Madison Police Department also attended the scene, coordinating efforts as the roadway was closed for approximately an hour and a half to ensure safety and facilitate a thorough clearance of the wreckage.
