MANSFIELD, MA – A motorcyclist sustained critical injuries in a crash on I-495 Saturday afternoon, according to the Mansfield Fire Department.
The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on the ramp from I-495 north to Route 140 north. Upon arrival, first responders found the motorcyclist unconscious off the side of the highway.
Fire officials reported the individual went into cardiac arrest during the response but was successfully resuscitated using the department's whole blood transfusion protocol. The victim was subsequently transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
The Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the cause of the crash or the number of vehicles involved.
