KENNER, La. — A 55-year-old man riding an e-bike was hospitalized with a broken leg following a collision with a car Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred just after 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and Loyola Drive. According to Kenner Police, the e-bike rider reportedly ran a red light on Loyola Drive and was struck by a vehicle traveling through the intersection.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after the crash. Witnesses reported that the intersection, located near busy businesses and a major route to the airport, has a history of accidents. Local workers indicated that there are at least one crash weekly at this intersection.
Authorities confirmed that video footage from a nearby business captured the incident and police response. Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley stated that the e-bike rider is likely to face a citation related to the incident.
