Uxbridge High School Student Dies in Late-Night Crash
UXBRIDGE, MA — A 15-year-old student from Uxbridge High School died after being ejected from a vehicle in a crash late Saturday night.
Authorities reported that at approximately 11:21 p.m. on Saturday, Uxbridge Police closed the 680 block of Chocolog Road due to a serious motor vehicle accident. Emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a Ford Focus, which struck a utility pole and left the roadway.
One occupant, a 15-year-old male, was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital. The identities of the deceased and the other occupants have not been released, and no information was provided regarding their injuries.
The incident, which remains under investigation, prompted police to ask witnesses to contact the Uxbridge Police Department at 508-278-7755 for any information.
In a statement, Uxbridge Public Schools Superintendent Dave Ljungberg expressed profound sadness over the incident, emphasizing the loss felt within the school community. He noted that counselors would be available at Uxbridge High School when classes resume on Monday to support both students and staff.
Police have stated they will provide additional information as it becomes appropriate.
