MOUNTAIN VIEW, Hawaii (Island News) — A fatal single-car crash occurred Friday night in Mountain View, resulting in the death of a male driver.
At approximately 10:07 p.m. on October 2, 2026, Hawaii Police Department responded to an accident involving a green 1998 Toyota pickup truck on North Kulani Road, just south of Stainback Highway. According to authorities, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road, strike a tree, and overturn.
Emergency responders found the driver unconscious at the scene and attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at 10:32 p.m. The man's age has not been confirmed, nor has his identity, as officials are in the process of notifying his next of kin.
Preliminary investigations indicate the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and factors such as speed or substance use may have contributed to the crash. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
