LAKE WALES, Fla. — Three people died in a two-vehicle crash early Thursday morning, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO).
Deputies responded to the accident at State Road 60 and Acuff Road around 4:22 a.m. after receiving reports of a collision.
Upon arrival, two occupants of a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu were found dead at the scene. The 31-year-old female driver from Auburndale was seriously injured and later succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital, PCSO reported.
The deceased were identified as a 45-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, both from Lake Wales.
Investigators stated that a 2016 Kenworth dump truck was traveling west on State Road 60 when the Malibu pulled out from Acuff Road, entering the truck's path. The truck driver sustained minor injuries.
Authorities indicated that no charges are expected in relation to the crash. Westbound State Road 60 was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation.
