Nampa Motorcyclist Raises Safety Concerns Over Cherry Lane Changes
NAMPA, Idaho — A motorcyclist is voicing concerns regarding a newly altered section of Cherry Lane following a crash on October 3, 2023.
David Hallman was riding to work around 7:41 a.m. when he encountered an unmarked turn where Cherry Lane now bends, causing him to lose control. Authorities confirmed he laid his motorcycle down in the gravel, narrowly avoiding a concrete barrier. Hallman sustained minor injuries to his knee, and his motorcycle was damaged.
Hallman reported that road-closed signs were not present at the time of the incident. After the crash, he contacted local media to alert other drivers about the hazard.
Alan Kindall, a resident near the bend, noted that at least seven vehicles have veered into his gravel driveway since the road alterations occurred. “A few people stopped, a few people busted up the underside of their cars,” Kindall stated. Tire marks and remnants of vehicle parts are visible in the area, indicating frequent accidents.
Despite the closure signs, Kindall observed that motorists continue to navigate the old stretch of Cherry Lane. “This happens pretty much every day,” he said, estimating that similar incidents could occur multiple times daily.
