WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KUTV) — A young father remains in critical condition following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 215 on Friday morning.
Jackson Gardner was en route to work when the accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on northbound I-215 near 2900 South. According to the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP), one individual sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.
UHP confirmed three vehicles were involved in the collision, which led to the closure of three of the five northbound lanes during the morning commute. No other injuries have been reported.
Gardner's family stated he suffered a traumatic brain injury and was unresponsive at the scene. He is currently receiving intensive care in the ICU. “Doctors cannot yet tell us how long his recovery will take or what the full extent of his injuries will be,” said his sister, Abby Giguiere.
The family is seeking financial assistance through a GoFundMe campaign to cover medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and lost income while Gardner remains hospitalized. The campaign emphasizes the couple's history of helping others in need.
UHP has yet to release the cause of the crash or identify the other drivers involved.
