DARIEEN, N.Y. (WKBW/CNN Newsource/WKRC) — An 11-year-old boy died following a go-kart accident in Darien, Genesee County, on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred when the go-kart rolled into a pond, trapping the boy underwater. Bystanders, including family members and firefighters, attempted CPR before he was airlifted to a hospital in Rochester, where he was pronounced dead.
An 8-year-old was also treated at the scene for undisclosed injuries. The cause of the go-kart crash is under investigation by the authorities. No further details have been released.
