NORTH LAS VEGAS — An e-bike rider suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision with a pickup truck on Sunday evening.
The incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Pecos Road, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). A lifted Chevrolet pickup was stopped in the right turn lane on northbound Pecos when the e-bike rider, also traveling north, bypassed stopped traffic to make a right turn onto Cheyenne.
Both the e-bike and the Chevrolet attempted the right turn simultaneously, resulting in the rider being knocked to the ground. Emergency medical personnel transported the e-bike rider to the University Medical Center Trauma Center, where his injuries were deemed life-threatening.
The Chevrolet driver remained at the scene and exhibited signs of impairment. He was subsequently booked into the Clark County Jail on related charges.
The LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section is actively investigating the incident.
