DANIEL ISLAND, SC — All lanes on Interstate 526 westbound have reopened near the Don Holt Bridge following a morning collision on July 1.
A multi-vehicle crash, reportedly involving a tractor trailer, halted traffic around 8 a.m., according to Charleston County dispatch records. The Charleston Police Department deployed several vehicles to close off travel lanes coming from Daniel Island into North Charleston as crews worked to clear the scene.
By 8:15 a.m., all lanes were blocked, although some traffic was being allowed to pass through a narrow opening on the left. Authorities confirmed that Charleston police vehicles were not involved in the incident.
Emergency medical services were on-site, with an ambulance observed navigating through stopped traffic around 8:45 a.m. A tow truck left the scene, and police reopened the roadway shortly before 9:30 a.m.
